Liverpool University Press is delighted to announce a new series editor for Studies in Modern and Contemporary France

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Siham Bouamer, currently Assistant Professor of French and Francophone Studies at Sam Houston State University, is joining the team of series editors for the Studies in Modern and Contemporary France book series since Professor Gill Allwood from Nottingham Trent University has stepped down. We would like to thank Gill for all of her help and guidance during the first few years of the series, and warmly welcome Siham to the team.

Ecocritics and Ecoskeptics
A recent title in the series: Ecocritics and Ecosceptics by Jonathan F. Krell

Studies in Modern and Contemporary France is a collaboration between the Association for the Study of Modern and Contemporary France (ASMCF) and Liverpool University Press (LUP). The series aims to serve as an important focus for all those whose engagement with France is not restricted to the more classically literary, and encourages submissions focusing on French politics, history, society, media and culture.

The current series co-editors Martin O’Shaughnessy and Denis M. Provencher said, “We are delighted Dr. Siham Bouamer is joining our team. Siham is emerging as a dynamic interdisciplinary scholar in French and Francophone Studies and strengthens our list by bringing a theoretical perspective that complements our own.”

The Culture of War
Another recent addition to the series: The Culture of War by Colin Foss

Siham Bouamer says “I am honoured to join this book series and I am looking forward to continuing the excellent work accomplished by the current and past series editors. Many outstanding books in the series have been influential for my own work. I am grateful that LUP is entrusting me to help grow the exceptional catalogue with new titles in contemporary French and Francophone studies. As current Associate Editor of CFC Intersections and co-founder of the Diversity, Decolonization, and the French Curriculum Collective, I am especially thrilled about the opportunity to develop the list in the series with the work of emerging scholars who focus on decolonial and intersectional approaches.”

We will be looking to continue to publish more ground-breaking interdisciplinary research on modern and contemporary France. Do get in touch if you have an idea for a proposal, by contacting the commissioning editor with a Proposal Submission Form.
