National Indexing Day
The Society of Indexers is celebrating National Indexing Day for the eighth successive year on Thursday 28th March 2024. National Indexing Day was established in March 2017 to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Society’s foundation. Since then, celebrations of indexing have taken place at live events, online and in the media, with indexers, authors and publishers joining enthusiastically to salute these ‘unsung heroes of the publishing world’, in Sam Leith’s words in The Guardian. This year, the festivities will take place at a half-day in-person workshop for publishers in London, as well as across social media. Celebrating National Indexing Day with Liverpool University Press
We’re celebrating National Indexing Day by making a selection of key articles from The Indexer over the years free to read for a selected period between March – April 2024. The Indexer is published on behalf of the Society of Indexers and the indexing societies and networks subscribing to the International Agreement of Indexing Societies. The journal seeks to cover the full range of subjects, from articles at the cutting edge of new techniques to contributions discussing in a practical way the new tools available to indexers at all points in the technical spectrum or exploring the history of indexing.
