LUP launches new series: Liverpool Monographs in Egyptology

Liverpool University Press is delighted to announce a new series: Liverpool Monographs in Egyptology, led by series editors Niv Allon (The Metropolitan Museum of Art), Mariam Ayad (The American University in Cairo), and Hana Navratilova (University of Oxford), supported by an international Editorial Board.

Liverpool Monographs in Egyptology will provide a new home for cutting-edge research in Egyptology. Focused on impactful and argument-driven monographs, the series seeks to explore the diverse histories of ancient Egypt and its culture, while also embracing studies that reassess earlier approaches with a new perspective. The series is particularly receptive to works addressing contemporary challenges in the field of Egyptology, including decolonization, materiality, and ethnicity through methodologically sound and well-researched case studies.

Hana Navratilova said: “Egyptology has much to offer to other disciplines in humanities and social sciences, and this series aims to promote interdisciplinary communication.”

Mariam Ayad said: “It’s exciting to be part of this new initiative and I’m very optimistic about its contribution to and positive impact on the field.”

Niv Allon said: “With the series, we hope to provide a space for thorough and analytical explorations of critical themes in the history of ancient Egypt and the field.”

Commissioning editor Clare Litt said: “With the University of Liverpool’s historical connections to Egyptology that continue to this day, it is wonderful to be providing a home for 21st century research on one of the world’s greatest ancient civilizations. We especially welcome the series’ efforts to contribute to the evolution of Egyptology as a diverse, inclusive, and innovative discipline.”

Further information on the series, including the proposal submission process, can be found on on the LUP website.
