Liverpool University Press and Zendy partner to expand affordable access to academic research

Liverpool University Press (LUP) has partnered with Zendy, a mission-driven digital research library for scholarly content, to bring high-quality research to a wider global audience. The partnership will make a curated selection of Liverpool University Press’ books available through Zendy’s research library, opening new doors for students, researchers, and independent learners worldwide. Notably, this includes access to the prestigious British Academy publishing portfolio, following LUP’s recent appointment as the Academy’s publishing partner for its academic books programme.

For both organisations, this is a shared commitment to breaking down access barriers and ensuring that knowledge is available to everyone, not just those with institutional access or the means to pay.

LUP Chief Executive, Anthony Cond, said: ‘With a long history of publishing in fields such as Postcolonial Studies, International Development, Francophone Studies and Hispanic Studies among other disciplines, it has always been important to Liverpool University Press and to its authors that our publishing reaches an audience beyond anglophone academia. Our partnership with Zendy will make LUP ebooks available across Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia and Eastern Europe at an affordable price.’

‘We are delighted to welcome Liverpool University Press to the Zendy platform. As one of the UK’s most respected academic publishers, their commitment to accessible, high-quality scholarship strongly aligns with our mission to democratise access to research, noted Kamran Kardan, Zendy’s Co-Founder. He continued and highlighted: ‘This partnership enables Zendy to offer even more valuable content to our global users, particularly in regions where access to academic literature remains limited. Together, we are making meaningful progress toward a more knowledgeable world.

The partnership will make key titles in the humanities and social sciences available through Zendy’s affordable subscription model. This includes fields such as history, literature, politics, and cultural studies, areas that offer deep insight into human experience and society.

With this collaboration, both Zendy and Liverpool University Press hope to move one step closer to a world where access to quality research is not a privilege, but a right.
