Liverpool University Press is delighted to announce a new series: Liverpool Studies in Literature and Environment, led by series editors Adeline Johns-Putra (Monash University Malaysia), Nicole Seymour (California State University, Fullerton) and Sam Solnick (University of Liverpool).
The series editors said: “We are delighted to be working together on this series – which, as the only UK university press series dedicated to ecocritical monographs and edited volumes, will fill a major scholarly gap. We hope, too, for this series to showcase not just research in well-established ecocritical topics and approaches but new and increasingly urgent questions. As editors, we draw on our scholarly experience on several continents and an editorial advisory board representing diverse critical traditions and geographies. We are particularly looking forward to opening up dialogues between the dominant strands of Anglo-American ecocriticism and work emerging from the Global South.”
Commissioning editor Christabel Scaife said “Interest in the relationship between literature and the environment has grown enormously in recent years, as the global climate crisis worsens. We look forward to working with this exceptional team of series editors to develop a forum for rigorous, innovative ecocritical scholarship, exploring a wide range of literary and cultural texts across different time periods and areas of the world.”
Commissioning editor Clare Litt said: “Medieval eco-criticism has grown into a dynamic and flourishing field of study; what’s particularly exciting to me is to bring a diverse selection of texts – medieval and modern – in conversation with one another to offer novel perspectives on environmental topics.”
