Liverpool University Press is pleased to announce two new senior appointments, with Professor Georgina Endfield FBA appointed to our Board of Directors, and Professor Claire Taylor, Gilmour Chair of Spanish, appointed Chair of the Editorial Advisory Board.
A distinguished Professor of Environmental History has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Liverpool University Press. Georgina Endfield FBA, who is also Associate Pro Vice Chancellor for the Research Environment and Postgraduate Research at the University of Liverpool, brings a wealth of scholarly experience to LUP and a deep understanding of partnerships from her role as Chair of the University’s Heritage, Arts and Culture Committee. Endfield joins a Board of Directors chaired by Professor Fiona Beveridge, Executive Pro Vice Chancellor for Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Liverpool, and consisting of the distinguished publishers Richard Charkin and Toby Faber and the Press’s three executive directors, CEO Anthony Cond, Finance Director Justine Greig and Editorial Director Alison Welsby.
Professor Fiona Beveridge commented, “An outstanding research leader and Fellow of the British Academy, Georgina’s considerable experience as a book author and journal editor will ensure that at the highest levels of governance Liverpool University Press continues to be driven by the academic community.”
Professor Georgina Endfield commented, “I am thrilled to have been appointed as an Non-Executive Director to LUP – one of the oldest University presses and also one of the most pioneering. As a Liverpudlian and University of Liverpool alumna, I am particularly grateful for and proud to have the opportunity to contribute to LUP’s ongoing success and look forward to helping to promote its mission for publishing the highest quality scholarship.”
Claire Taylor, Gilmour Professor of Spanish at the University of Liverpool, has been appointed Chair of the Editorial Advisory Board of Liverpool University Press. The EAB is the Press’s credentialising body, ensuring all LUP publications meet the expected standard for the University of Liverpool’s imprimatur and actively helping to shape the fields in which the Press publishes. A long-time member of the EAB, Claire has published two LUP books and is the General Editor of the Bulletin of Hispanic Studies, which has been published from Liverpool since 1923.
Anthony Cond, Chief Executive of Liverpool University Press, commented, “Claire has shown herself to be a consistently thoughtful and rigorous advisor to the Press over a number of years, she has also demonstrated an astute editorial eye as the editor of a field-defining journal. LUP is fortunate to have such an engaged Editorial Advisory Board, which underpins so much of what we do. We are grateful to Claire for taking on this important leadership role.”
Professor Claire Taylor commented, “Liverpool University Press is one of the foremost academic presses in the UK and leads the way in many areas including literature, modern languages, history and film studies. I am delighted to be taking up the role of Chair of the Editorial Advisory Board and hope to help support the press in the wonderful work that it does.”
The Board and Editorial Advisory Board vacancies arise following the departure of Professor Charles Forsdick FBA, one of the principal academic architects of LUP’s success over the past two decades.
