Liverpool University Press is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Emma Greensmith and Dr Giuseppe Pezzini as Series Editors of Aris & Phillips Classical Texts, following the retirement of Prof. Alan Sommerstein.
LUP is extremely grateful to Alan Sommerstein who took up the mantle from his predecessor Prof. Chris Collard with great energy and enthusiasm, serving a decade in the role, during which time he guided over thirty volumes in the series from proposal through to publication. His encyclopaedic knowledge and eagle eye for detail is second to none and it is of enormous benefit to series that he will continue to contribute on the editorial committee.
Emma Greensmith said ‘I am delighted to be taking on the role of co-editor of this vibrant and important series and continuing the work of bringing a wide range of ancient texts to life in rigorous, accessible and critically exciting ways. I am particularly eager to introduce more texts from the imperial Greek era into the collection, which offer rich rewards to the student and scholar of the ancient world.’
Giuseppe Pezzini said ‘It is a great honour for me to contribute to the A&P series, joining Emma as co-editor and working with a committee of distinguished colleagues who share a commitment to maintaining the series’ accessibility—taking into account the evolving needs and expectations of students—while ensuring this does not come at the expense of rigour and detail. We also aim to expand its scope to include later Latin and Greek literature up to the Middle Ages and beyond, and to enhance its international standing by involving authors from a broader range of countries.’
An international editorial committee has also been put in place to assist Emma and Giuseppe.
Clare Litt, senior commissioning editor for Classics, said ‘It’s an exciting time for the series with a dynamic new team, including the series’ first female Editor. Now numbering over 170 volumes, we continue to develop the collection and I am thrilled that Emma and Giuseppe will expand the selection of texts in new and important ways, to serve the needs of the Classics community worldwide.’
Aris & Phillips Classical Texts accepts proposals all year round; please contact Clare Litt to find out if a particular text is already under contract. The series is available as a digital collection for libraries.
