Liverpool University Press (LUP) is proud to announce that it will become the new publisher of three distinguished academic journals—Continuity and Change, arq: Architectural Research Quarterly, and Arabic Sciences and Philosophy—from 2026, following their longstanding publication with Cambridge University Press.
This significant transition marks a new chapter for each title, as LUP continues to expand its reputation as one of the UK’s most innovative and mission-led university presses.
Clare Hooper, Director of Journals Publishing at Liverpool University Press, commented:
“This is an exciting time for Liverpool University Press, as we continue to grow and develop our journal publishing program. We are so pleased to welcome these three journals into new partnerships, and we know each one will continue to thrive. We’re also thrilled that we can move into new areas of scholarship, supporting and disseminating the work of our excellent editorial boards”.
All back issue content will also be made available via the LUP platform in Winter 2025. Subscribers to previous content will retain perpetual access via the Cambridge University Press platform.

Arabic Sciences and Philosophy: A Historical Journal
Founded in 1991 and supported by the Institut des Sciences Humaines et Sociales–CNRS, ASP is an international journal dedicated to the history of science, mathematics, and philosophy in the Islamic world between the eighth and eighteenth centuries, as well as scientific modernization in the nineteenth century. The journal is noted for its cross-cultural scope and critical historical depth.
Celebrating Scholarly Milestones in 2025–2026
The transition to Liverpool University Press coincides with significant anniversaries for all three journals:
- Continuity and Change will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2026
- arq will mark its 30th anniversary in Autumn 2025
- Arabic Sciences and Philosophy reaches its 35th anniversary in 2026
To commemorate these milestones, each journal will release a special online-only Virtual Issue highlighting landmark contributions from their publishing history. These curated collections will be freely available and showcase the journals’ evolving contributions to their fields, as well as the breadth of research they continue to support.
These Virtual Issues will serve not only as retrospectives but also as celebratory preludes to the journals’ new home at Liverpool University Press.
