In 2026, Polin: Studies in Polish Jewry celebrates its 40th anniversary—four decades of publishing authoritative, interdisciplinary research on all aspects of the history, culture, and experience of Polish Jewry. Founded in 1986 by the Institute for Polish–Jewish Studies and published by the Littman Library of Jewish Civilization, Polin has become a leading forum for historians, literary scholars, linguists, sociologists, art historians, and researchers across the humanities and social sciences.
To mark this milestone, the editors have curated an anniversary selection of journal articles that will be free to read for the next 12 months. Spanning early modern political life, nineteenth-century community transformations, interwar religious and cultural movements, Holocaust history, and postwar memory and reconstruction, these articles highlight the richness and breadth of Polin’s contribution to the field.
Alongside this special selection, we invite readers to browse the latest hardback edition, which explores Jewish attitudes to the body, gender, and sexuality in diverse historical contexts. The volume examines how religious, communal, and state concerns have shaped personal and bodily experience—from care for the elderly and debates on birth control to the entanglement of antisemitism and misogyny. A 50% discount is available on the hardback edition with the code 27AJS50 *.
