The editorial team of Romani Studies invites submissions for a special thematic issue entitled Religiosity and Spirituality among Gypsy/Roma.

The team stated the following in relation to the special issue:

The issue 2/2021 of Romani Studies (RS) would like to search the phenomenon of religiosity and spirituality among Gypsy/Roma in broader perspective, in order to amplify our knowledge on both official churches or faith-based organisations with active mission among the Gypsy/Roma on local or global scale, as well as traditional and non-traditional (non-institutional) forms of religiousness and spirituality among the Gypsy/Roma.

The thematic issue of Romani Studies Journal would like to grasp the phenomenon of religious movements operating among Roma in a complex manner, not omitting gender issues, (potential) multi-spectral polarization in Roma families and communities, potential connection with political participation, connection and impact on education and employment, change of life-style, moral code and code of behaviour in connection with conversion, phenomenon of multiplying stigma and limitations of (hybrid) religious network and (ambiguity) of symbolic capital gathered via religious path.

Final date for abstracts (extended): March 15th, 2021
Only the authors of accepted abstracts will be invited to submit a full paper. An invitation to submit a full paper does not constitute a commitment for publication; all papers will be subject to anonymous peer review following the submission.
