Northcote House Publishers and Liverpool University Press (LUP) have agreed a strategic partnership for the publication of the long-running series Writers and their Work.
With immediate effect, LUP will assume responsibility for more than 400 backlist titles and a frontlist of around 10 new books a year. The partnership will also see the titles digitised and systematically available as ebooks, many for the first time.
Titles in the series will be distributed through LUP’s usual channels, with Turpin Distribution handling the UK.
Anthony Cond, Managing Director of Liverpool University Press, said ‘Across almost 25 years, Writers and their Work has developed an enviable list of tightly-focused books that are widely used by students of literary studies in both universities and schools. Moreover, the series includes among its authors some of the leading literary critics of the past quarter of a century.’
Brian Hulme, Managing Director of Northcote House Publishers, added, ‘Liverpool University Press combines the gravitas of a 120 year old university press with the agility and energy of a start-up, as such it is very well placed to enhance and expand the Writers and their Work series.’
About Writers and their Work:
Writers and their Work, launched in 1994 in association with the British Council, won immediate acclaim for its publication of brief but rigorous critical examinations of the works of distinguished writers and schools of writing. The series embraces the best of modern literary theory and criticism, and features studies of many popular late-twentieth-century writers, as well as the canonical figures of literature and important literary genres.
About Liverpool University Press:
Twice acknowledged as academic publisher of the year in recent years, Liverpool University Press combines the heritage of the UK’s third oldest university press with a forward-looking ethos that has underpinned its significant expansion over the past decade. The Press publishes 100 books annually, 32 journals and a number of digital collections.
