Modern Languages Open to launch a Linguistics Section

Liverpool University Press is delighted to announce the introduction of a Linguistics section to our open access platform, Modern Languages Open.

The Linguistics Section will be edited by Nicola Bermingham (University of Liverpool), and will be supported by an Editorial Board which consists of Michelle Harrison (University of Leicester), Professor Kerstin Hoge (University of Oxford), Adam Ledgeway (University of Cambridge) and Leigh Oakes (Queen Mary University of London).

Nicola Bermingham, Section Editor, said:

“There is a growing body of research on Linguistics that does not fall under Anglophone areas of activity, and is instead undertaken in Modern Languages departments. The Linguistic section of the Modern Languages Open is a truly transnational publication that challenges Anglo-centric scholarship and brings together contributions from scholars working across all subfields of Linguistics as explored through Modern Languages. ”

To celebrate the launch of the new section, an inaugural research seminar will take place at the University of Liverpool on 14th October 2019. The seminar will feature a range of different contributions (both on research and teaching projects) from the section’s editorial board. Details of the event can be found below.

Launch Date: 14 October 2019 at 3-4.30pm

Location: Language Lounge, 1-7 Abercromby Square, University of Liverpool, L69 7WY, Liverpool

Entry will be free.
