Liverpool University Press (LUP) is pleased to announce that it will become the new publisher of Archivium Hibernicum, the refereed history journal of the Catholic Historical Society of Ireland, from 2027.
Published annually, Archivium Hibernicum is one of Ireland’s longest‑running historical journals and is internationally recognised for the quality of its scholarship. The journal is jointly based in the Department of Ecclesiastical History at St Patrick’s College, Maynooth, and the Department of History at Maynooth University.
Clare Hooper, Director of Journals Publishing at LUP, commented:
“We are so pleased to announce our new partnership with the Catholic Historical Society of Ireland to publish their journal Archivium Hibernicum from 2027.
The journal was established in 1912 to promote the work of the Society in the study of Irish ecclesiastical history and Irish history in general. It is a perfect fit for LUP, as we have a long history of publishing highly regarded research in Irish studies.”
Dr Eamon Darcy, editor of Archivium Hibernicum (Maynooth University) said:
“This is an exciting venture between the Catholic Historical Society of Ireland and Liverpool University Press. LUP’s outstanding publishing expertise and extensive dissemination networks will ensure that the high-calibre research published in Archivium Hibernicum reaches an even wider international audience.
For over a century, Archivium Hibernicum has maintained a proud tradition of publishing rigorous and ground-breaking research on Irish religious history and the experiences of the Irish abroad. This collaboration will allow us to strengthen the journal’s role as a leading research forum on these topics and to embrace new opportunities for growth and engagement.
We also welcome the opportunity for our readers to benefit from LUP’s rich and diverse range of publications.”
